Airbnb Marigny/Bywater, New Orleans: Lofts, Cottages, Shotgun Houses, Historic Homes, and Mansions

15 Incredible Airbnbs in the Marigny/Bywater

New Orleans is world-renowned for its lively food and music scene, colorful and unique architecture, and of course, its famous festivals – Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, and Southern Decadence.

In a city with so much to offer, it can be difficult to narrow down where to stay. Many visitors head directly for Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, but you may not necessarily want to stay in a hotel in those areas. After all, there’s a ton to see and do (and taste and drink), and many of the best attractions and landmarks are spread out across several different neighborhoods.

That’s precisely why Airbnbs in the Faubourg Marigny the Bywater are ideal. Although technically two different neighborhoods, they’re generally considered one and the same. This relatively small area has an ideal location along the Mississippi River and adjacent to the French Quarter, and it packs a tremendous punch. The Marigny is legendary for its live music scene, as well as its proximity to Frenchman Street (known as the “local’s Bourbon Street”) and Royal Street with its historic mansions, art galleries, and antiques shops.

By choosing a vacation rental in the Marigny or Bywater, you can be close to all of New Orleans’ top attractions without the noise and party scene that comes along with some of them. Plus, you’ll get to experience firsthand one of the oldest and most historically significant areas in New Orleans.

To help you narrow it down, we’ve put together our list of the 15 best Airbnbs in the Marigny and the Bywater to help you plan an incredible NOLA getaway!

  1. Just two cents from a local. Please reconsider staying in an AirBnB in New Orleans. The community has suffered a tremendous amount of gentrification and displacement of local artists, musicians, service industry folks, and culture bearers due to the alarmingly growing amount of AirBnB in the city, and in particular the Marigny Bywater. Most of these spaces aren’t owned by locals, but instead are run by massive companies out of state, and with the current housing crisis the city is suffering, AirBnB is doing way more harm than good. Coming from a Marigny neighbor, if you must stay in one, please make sure it’s owned by a local.
