Where to Stay in Stockholm

Where to Stay in Stockholm: Cool Boutique Hotels

With 14 different islands, there’s plenty to choose from when it comes to where to stay in Stockholm. Each island has its own unique style and vibe that sets it apart from the others.

If this is your first time in the city, we recommend you stay in Gamla Stan. Stockholm’s Old Town, Gamla Stan is the medieval heart of the city where you’ll find the most famous landmarks and attractions. It’s filled with narrow cobblestone streets that lead to cute cafes, hidden wine bars, and artisan boutiques.

For something a little cooler and more modern, check out Hornstull. Found on Södermalm Island in the south of the city, this trendy neighborhood is a great place to party.

Here you can chill out in independent cafes or on the island’s mini-beaches during the day, then hit a nightclub or watch a live gig at night. It’s also where you’ll find some of the coolest hotels in Stockholm!

Odenplan is a great choice if you love shopping. This often-overlooked neighborhood is home to a handful of vintage and charity stores where you can pick up one-of-a-kind goodies you really won’t find anywhere else. It’s also where you’ll find the Stockholm Observatory and City Library.

When you need to get away from bustling city life, consider staying in Djurgården. This peaceful island is like a country retreat, with picturesque coastal walks, tranquil parks, and gorgeous views. It’s also where you’ll find tons of museums and some of the most luxurious boutique hotels in Stockholm.

  1. Greetings!

We will be staying for 5 nights in Stockholm this August. I found your article s while exploring smaller Boutique Hotels. Wondering if you would please send any suggestions from the following Hotels? We are deciding between The Bank, The Lydmar and The Sparrow.
They all sound perfect. This is our first visit to Stockholm and we have good friends who have a single flat in Kungsholmen. We will be spending a large bit of time with them. (My first choice was Ett Hem for a real splurge, but sadly they are booked)

Thank you kindly for your article and any comments you may share,
    Nancy Wiese
