You may have looked at the title of this post and thought, “is there really such a thing as craft beer in Argentina?”  Because, yes, Argentina is known for producing delicious red wine in Mendoza, but it also has an up-and-coming craft beer scene emerging in Patagonia!

Bariloche is an Argentine craft beer hub and has a roster of incredible breweries to choose from – Berlina, Manush, Patagonia, Blest, and Wesley, to name a few. This guide will give you an overview of the best Bariloche breweries to sample Argentinian beer. Plus it includes all you need to know about their happy hours so you can enjoy Bariloche beer while keeping costs low during your travels!

Guide to Breweries & Happy Hour in Bariloche, Argentina

Manush Bariloche

Cerveceria Manush has two locations in Bariloche, one in the Centro of the city and one at Kilometer 4 and Av. Exequiel Bustillo, right on the water.  Manush has a large selection of craft beers on tap, which makes it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. 

Happy hour at both Manush Bariloche locations is from 5:30 – 8:00 pm, the perfect time to go for cheap beers, as it only gets crazy busy later at night. As with everywhere in Argentina, Bariloche breweries and restaurants get busy after 9:00 pm when everyone comes in for dinner.

Cerveceria Blest

You can find Cerveceria Blest next to Manush’s location at KM 4 along the water. Blest was the first craft brewery in Bariloche (and all of Patagonia!) and is a great option for a beer (especially if you are visiting Manush since they are right next door to each other)

Blest locations serves affordable food (pizza, burgers, and sandwiches) with an amazing view of the lake! Happy hour is from 5:30-8:00 pm daily when you get two beers for the price of one (but it has to be the same beer).

Berlina Brewery

Berlina has four locations in the Bariloche area, as well as pubs throughout Argentina, including in Buenos Aires. While they have a bar in the Centro and also at the base of the ski mountain, Cerro Catedral, their other two locations are the ones most worthy of a visit. 

Berlina KM 12 was the original brewery and is now a standalone brewpub with a full food menu (with again, mostly pizza and burgers). While this location is all the way out at KM 12, it’s on a large property with lots of outdoor seating and is a great place to bring the whole family as there’s an outdoor play area for the kids! This location opens daily at 6:00 pm, a great time to have dinner to avoid crowds and enjoy 50% off beer during happy hour, which lasts until 8:00 pm.

The other Berlina brewery that is worth visiting in Bariloche is located in Colonia Suiza. This is the “factory” (where the brewing is done!) and they have a tap room on-site. Visitors can try Bariloche beer fresh from production at one of the taproom bars located both inside and outside the facility.  This Berlina Tap Room in Colonia Suiza opens at 2:00 pm during the spring and summer.  

Patagonia Brewery Bariloche

The geographical area’s namesake brewery, Patagonia, has bars located throughout Argentina and South America and is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev (also the owner of major beer brands like Budweiser and Corona). While InBev is considered the world’s largest brewer, the Cerveceria Patagonia, located at KM 24.7 on route 77 in Bariloche, has the feel of an authentic microbrewery. In fact, of all of the breweries in Bariloche, I considered this one the most beautiful. The facility is state-of-the-art and the location has a jaw-dropping view of the lakes and mountains. 

While it’s located far from the Centro, it’s absolutely worth the drive to experience the scenery while enjoying a beer. You can also rent a bike and head in that way, enjoying gorgeous lake views if you’re up for a bit of a workout! The brewery can be very busy, even considering its remote location, but happy hour does last until 8:00 pm allowing visitors to enjoy the view and then head back to the Centro before the brewery gets too busy.

Wesley

Wesley is my favorite brewery in all of Bariloche, and we went back several times because I loved their beer (specifically their IPA, pronounced “eepa” in Spanish), food, and ambiance. This is probably the smallest brewery of the others in this post, as they only have one location, – in the Centro across the street from Manush and Blest. 

Happy hour is two-for-one and lasts until 8:00 pm. My husband, two stepsons, and I would show up shortly after it opened and watch the pub gradually fill up to standing room only. If we didn’t have our kids with us, I would have loved staying out late at Wesley with the locals! 

As you can see, there are several breweries to choose from while visiting Bariloche! This post only covered my favorite Bariloche beer and you may find other breweries that you enjoy depending on your preferences and taste for beer (like my honorable mention brewery, Kunstmann). Regardless of which Bariloche beer is your favorite, any beer enthusiast will enjoy the numerous options available for craft beer in Bariloche.
