The Best Boutique Hotels in Majorca, Spain

The 12 Best Boutique Hotels in Majorca

If you’re looking for sun, sea, and sand, then you’ll find all three on the sunny shores of Majorca (Mallorca)! This is the largest of the Balearic Islands, a small but sunny archipelago waiting for you out in the Mediterranean Sea, just a short flight (or a longer ferry ride) away from the Spanish mainland.

You can spend your vacation lapping up the sunshine on one of Majorca’s many beaches, or you can spend your holiday lazing around a swimming pool and ordering up jugs of sangria to your sun lounger. But there’s much more to Majorca than this – although we do welcome a lazy holiday every now and then!

For a small island with a population of only around 800,000 people, you’ll be surprised to find out just how much there is to do in Majorca. In Palma, the island’s capital, you can uncover tapas bars and world-class cuisine nestled among the cobblestone streets of the old town. After that, stand in awe of Palma’s cathedral, visit royal castles and palaces, and gorge on street food at the markets.

In the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tramuntana Mountains, you can spend days hiking through Moorish terraces, visiting local wineries, and staying in gorgeous boutique hotels. Be sure to rent bicycles and tackle the mountain passes where Tour de France pros train in the winter, scuba dive in marine national parks off the Majorcan coast, and join a boat trip into the Mediterranean on a day trip to neighboring islands like Menorca and Ibiza!

If you’re planning a trip to the Balearic Islands, keep reading as we explain where to stay in Majorca.

Where to stay in Majorca

Where to Stay in Majorca: Best Boutique Hotels

In Majorca, no matter where you choose to stay, you’re never going to be far from the coast. But this doesn’t mean that the only hotel options on the island are soulless beach resorts. That’s far from the case because there are some beautiful boutique hotels in Majorca!

If you’re looking for a beachside stay, the most popular area for tourists is the long strip of sand that runs from Palma, the island’s capital, south to S’Arenal. There’s a lovely beachfront promenade, you can easily get around on foot, by bicycle or by bus, and there are some lovely hotels with sea views.

If you’d prefer a bit of history, though, then Palma is one of the best places to stay in Majorca. Within the historic old town, you can stay in converted churches and restored townhouses that are packed with character yet feature luxury facilities like rooftop swimming pools and spas. Travel into the mountains and countryside, and you’ll have the chance to stay in historic Majorcan villas and remote country estates where you can escape the rest of the island.
