The Best Boutique Hotels in Majorca, Spain

The 12 Best Boutique Hotels in Majorca

If you’re looking for sun, sea, and sand, then you’ll find all three on the sunny shores of Majorca (Mallorca)! This is the largest of the Balearic Islands, a small but sunny archipelago waiting for you out in the Mediterranean Sea, just a short flight (or a longer ferry ride) away from the Spanish mainland.

You can spend your vacation lapping up the sunshine on one of Majorca’s many beaches, or you can spend your holiday lazing around a swimming pool and ordering up jugs of sangria to your sun lounger. But there’s much more to Majorca than this – although we do welcome a lazy holiday every now and then!

For a small island with a population of only around 800,000 people, you’ll be surprised to find out just how much there is to do in Majorca. In Palma, the island’s capital, you can uncover tapas bars and world-class cuisine nestled among the cobblestone streets of the old town. After that, stand in awe of Palma’s cathedral, visit royal castles and palaces, and gorge on street food at the markets.

In the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tramuntana Mountains, you can spend days hiking through Moorish terraces, visiting local wineries, and staying in gorgeous boutique hotels. Be sure to rent bicycles and tackle the mountain passes where Tour de France pros train in the winter, scuba dive in marine national parks off the Majorcan coast, and join a boat trip into the Mediterranean on a day trip to neighboring islands like Menorca and Ibiza!

If you’re planning a trip to the Balearic Islands, keep reading as we explain where to stay in Majorca.

Where to stay in Majorca

Where to Stay in Majorca: Best Boutique Hotels

In Majorca, no matter where you choose to stay, you’re never going to be far from the coast. But this doesn’t mean that the only hotel options on the island are soulless beach resorts. That’s far from the case because there are some beautiful boutique hotels in Majorca!

If you’re looking for a beachside stay, the most popular area for tourists is the long strip of sand that runs from Palma, the island’s capital, south to S’Arenal. There’s a lovely beachfront promenade, you can easily get around on foot, by bicycle or by bus, and there are some lovely hotels with sea views.

If you’d prefer a bit of history, though, then Palma is one of the best places to stay in Majorca. Within the historic old town, you can stay in converted churches and restored townhouses that are packed with character yet feature luxury facilities like rooftop swimming pools and spas. Travel into the mountains and countryside, and you’ll have the chance to stay in historic Majorcan villas and remote country estates where you can escape the rest of the island.

From classic luxury hotels to quirky and inspired renovations, here’s our list of the 12 best boutique hotels in Majorca!

There are just 32 individually designed rooms available at Hotel Cappuccino, and each of them has been masterfully created by French interior designer Jacques Grange.

Rooms are decidedly luxurious and feature art deco furnishings, Moorish-inspired mosaic tile flooring, and colorful, Mediterranean-style decor and paintings. You’ll love the breezy windows and French balconies that overlook the busy streets of Palma. But for the best views, you have to head to the rooftop swimming pool, where you can admire the beauty of the cathedral while you cool off in the water.

You can take relaxation to the next level with a session at the spa. Inspired by Moroccan hammams, you can enjoy massages, Jacuzzi pools, and steam rooms, or you can work out in the fitness center. Hotel Cappuccino also has a unique cinema room, where classic movies like Casablanca are shown on a big screen.

You can expect your stay to be an intimate affair, and each guest is guaranteed to experience world-class service at the Hotel Cappuccino. This level of service continues in the Cappuccino Grand Cafe, where Majorcan potato buns, fresh eggs, and fruits are served for breakfast, Caesar salads for lunch, and Mai Tais in the evenings. 3. Hotel Antigua Palma

One of our favorite Majorca boutique hotels is, without a doubt, Hotel Antigua Palma. This is one for the luxury-loving history fans because Hotel Antique Palma is located within a former Majorcan noble’s house in the center of Palma’s old town!

The home itself dates back centuries, with the cellar dating back to the 17th century and the main property having been renovated by the Ferrer-Quintana family in the 18th century. The house was built using stone from the Tramuntana Mountains, and many of the original architectural features, such as the baroque archways, remain.

There are 27 boutique rooms at Hotel Antigua Palma, and they are all designed with a soft, Mediterranean style in mind. Fabrics and bedding are locally sourced when possible, and artwork and decor evoke a sense of Majorca’s long Moorish and Spanish traditions.
