The 15 Best Cafes in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia

1. Good Mantra

Ask locals which is the best cafe in Canggu and many will answer Good Mantra. This entirely plant-based cafe is praised for its bold flavors, welcoming vibe, and prime location, just a short stroll from the excellent surf conditions at Berawa Beach.

A beacon of positivity and progression, Good Mantra offers a gourmet menu filled with nourishing plant-based creations made from the freshest ingredients sourced from nearby farms. Practically everything served is prepared in-house, from the rich and creamy nut milks to the crunchy low-sugar granolas.

We definitely recommend you try the light-as-air Matahari Pancakes. These fluffy delights come generously topped with whipped coconut cream, coconut gelato, and zingy fruit coulis made with seasonal fruits. If you’re stopping by for lunch, consider one of the hearty, energy-packed salads or wholesome sandwiches that come packed with fresh vegetables. Order extra plant-based mayo if you’re feeling indulgent!

The remarkable menu also features a spectacular drink section loaded with items you won’t find anywhere else. Better still, for every Forest Smoothie Good Mantra sells, they plant a tree or take action to protect the local forests.

2. The Avocado Factory

Best Cafes in Canggu for Breakfast: The Avocado Factory

Do you get excited whenever you see avocado on the menu? Then you’ve got to check out The Avocado Factory. The very first avocado bar to open up in Bali, The Avocado Factory boasts a sensational menu, with every single food-based item containing avocado at least one way.

From the sweet Tropical Bowl and crunchy Hummus Toast to luxurious Truffle Benedict and Avo Cheese Croissant XXL, everything comes with a generous serving of rich, buttery avocado. An excellent option, whatever kind of mood you’re in, The Avocado Factory dishes up a satisfying mix of vegetarian, vegan, and omnivore dishes, making it a great choice if you’re traveling with fussy eaters.

While the breakfast menu is definitely our favorite, the lunch menu is worth checking out, too. Here, you’ll find a huge range of burgers, sandwiches, pastas, noodles, and salads, almost all of which are also enhanced with avocado.

The drinks menu is the only thing that’s avocado-free… almost. The avo lattes are wonderfully thick and creamy. Or, if you’re craving dessert for breakfast, opt for the Choco-Cado Delight – a healthy smoothie loaded with almond milk, honey, dark chocolate, and avocado.

If you’d prefer a vegetarian option, go for the Boss Omelet, loaded with zucchini, sweet onion, capsicum, Emmental cheese, goat cheese, and rocket.

Whichever option you choose, we definitely recommend you pair it with one of the brunch cocktails. The Madu Bloody Mary is made with an amazing pepper vodka. If you’d rather something not quite as strong, opt for the Madu Mimosa with passion fruit sorbet instead.

5. Honey,

One of the best cafes in Canggu if you need to get some work done, Honey, occupies a gorgeous, sun-kissed spot in peaceful Pererenan. Unlike many other cafes that opt for a bright and colorful vibe, Honey, keeps things simple with a chic black-and-white color palette enhanced by natural wood and green plants.

When it’s cool and shady, the shutters are left open so you can people-watch and enjoy the refreshing breeze that flows through the cafe. But when the sun starts to creep through, the shutters are pulled so you can work without the sun’s rays reflecting off your monitor.

This stylish cafe focuses on the freshest organic ingredients available, almost all of which are sourced locally. If you’re feeling ravenous, satisfy your hunger with the healthy and hearty Salmon Quinoa Bowl. Or if your sweet tooth needs a little indulging, choose the fluffy Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with almond flakes, whipped ricotta, and honey.

Don’t miss out on the chance to try some of the tempting side dishes. With drool-worthy choices like charred cherry tomatoes, freshly baked sourdough bread, and vegan-friendly coconut yogurt, you’ll have plenty to choose from.

The only downside is that the colors of the ingredients are so vibrant and the presentation is so superb that you won’t want to ruin the dish by eating it!

The smoothie bowls are as delicious as they are beautiful – and surprisingly filling, too. If you’d prefer something savory, we suggest the Avo on Toast (it’s only available seasonally and comes with the most incredible super seed mix and house-dried tomatoes).

This Big Breakfast is amazing and includes everything from sauteed mushrooms, wilted spinach, and citrus asparagus spears to crispy sweet potatoes, caramelized onions, and sourdough toast.

Mile-End Kitchen + Bar, a contemporary urban gem just a stone’s throw from Echo Beach, is a fantastic place to go if you want to immerse yourself in Canggu’s close-knit community. All kinds of people, from locals from families who have lived in the city for generations to digital nomads who are calling Canggu their home for the next couple of months, meet here to enjoy great food and company.
