With its fantastic water sports, wonderfully calm waters, and proximity to many bars and restaurants, Reduit Beach is one of our favorites. Whenever you get bored of sunbathing, the aquamarine sea, with its unique coral formations and fascinating marine life, is just steps away.

March is a great time to explore St. Lucia’s lush landscape. We suggest following a walking trail through the rainforest or hiking to the top of the famous Gros Piton. Whatever type of vacation you’re looking for, St. Lucia is always one of the best March travel destinations!

2. Spot Bears in Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is famous for its hot springs and geysers. But visit during March and not only will you be able to spot spectacular eruptions, but you’ll also have the chance to see all kinds of amazing animals.

When the snow starts to melt and the temperatures begin to rise, incredible wildlife emerges. Grizzly bears come out of hibernation, baby bison take their first steps, male elks put on romantic displays for females, baby wolves appear from their dens, and moose leisurely stroll around rivers.

Although much of the area remains covered in ice and snow, the lower-level trails in Yellowstone open toward the end of the month, giving you plenty of hiking and snowshoeing opportunities.

The beginning of spring is one of the hottest and driest times of the year for Cartagena, Colombia. In March, daytime highs can reach a whopping 90°F and rain is practically unheard of. While this may be a little too hot to lounge on the city’s gorgeous beaches, it’s a great opportunity to explore the shady streets of the UNESCO-protected Old Town. 

Cartagena’s Old Town is a living testament to the city’s storied past. Here, you can stroll down cobblestone streets lined with vibrant façades that paint a picture of a bygone era. The whole town feels like a maze of well-preserved colonial architecture, adorned with balconies draped in bright bougainvillea.

6. Surround Yourself with Serenity in Lake Tahoe

Known locally as Semana Santa, Easter in Seville is celebrated with elaborate parades with grandiose floats depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ or the grieving Virgin Mary. The most remarkable part of this festival is the processions accompanied by Nazarenos. 

These are religious people who dress in distinctive dark robes and pointed hoods. The outfits successfully create anonymity, humility, and penance, adding to the eerie, spiritual feel of the festival.

8. Experience Amazing Festivals in Honolulu

Honolulu throws some of its biggest and best festivals in spring. Visit in March and you’ll be in time for the Best of Honolulu Festival. 

Held during the second week of the month, this annual festival is bursting with fun things to see and do. From temping food fairs, dramatic parades, and a mini film festival to dance performances, art exhibitions, and spectacular fireworks displays, there’s absolutely loads going on.

March also falls within the peak season for Hawaii. So, although prices will be a little more expensive than normal and you’ll have to deal with a few crowds, it’s worth it. In exchange for traveling at this time of year, you’ll enjoy mostly dry weather with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. 

9. See the Blooms in Kew Gardens in London

There’s never a quiet time to visit London. But you can avoid a lot of the crowds by skipping the typical attractions, such as Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, and visiting Kew Gardens instead. This sprawling green space is absolutely stunning in March, when flower beds are blanketed in yellow daffodils and purple crocuses.

There are loads of exciting events going on at Kew Gardens in March, too. The activity calendar changes every year, but outdoor yoga classes, forest bathing, tai chi, and photography exhibitions are practically guaranteed.

10. Go Ziplining in Monteverde in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is easily one of the best countries to visit in March. During this season, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and daytime temperatures are in the high 70s and low 80s. 

This weather creates the ideal conditions for adventure sports. And you’ll be hard-pressed to find something more exciting than ziplining in Monteverde!
