The Best Restaurants in An Bang Beach

Hai Cay Me – The Tamarind Tree

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Tamarind Tree Restaurant (Hai Cay Me)

Hai Cay Me is arguably the best restaurant in town! Prices are incredibly reasonable and everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. They occasionally offer specials like two beers for the price of one. Plus, they have really tasty cocktails and fresh fruit shakes.

Be sure to try the pumpkin cooked in a clay pot, it’s the best meal we had in all of An Bang Beach! And the avocado salad is superb, although it’s seasonal. The papaya salad and the pork wontons are also delightful and served in large portions.

Purple Lantern Restaurant

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Purple Lantern Restaurant

The Purple Lantern Restaurant is just off of the main road through town, about two blocks from the beach. Purple and white lanterns hang from the ceiling of this open-air restaurant, creating a lovely, dimly lit ambiance.

All of the curries are delicious and the Cao Lau noodles are some of the best in all of Hoi An! They have delicious Chilean wine served by the glass for a totally reasonable price.

Hai Cay Xoai

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Hai Cay Xoai Banh Mi Stand

This little banh mi stand is right next door to Rustic Restaurant. It is run by the friendliest Vietnamese lady who puts a lot of love into her baguette sandwiches. Order the “Val Special” – a pork banh mi with cheese and no cilantro – it’s scrumptious!

The Best Bars in An Bang Beach

Salt Pub and Restaurant

This Aussie-owned bar sits right on the beach with front tables that face the ocean. It’s the best spot in town to get a glass of wine, a snack, and watch the sunset. Alcohol prices are incredibly reasonable, the staff is super friendly, and they have delicious Western food options that you’ve been missing from home. The cheese plate is the perfect snack to pair with a glass of house white wine!

Tree Coconut Beach Restaurant

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Lounging at the Beach

If you’re looking to have a relaxing day at the beach, there’s no better place to rent a beach chair than at the Tree Coconut Beach Restaurant! You don’t actually have to pay for your beach chair and umbrella, simply order a few beers or a mango shake and enjoy an afternoon in the sun! The owners are super friendly and not even remotely pushy like some of the other restaurants along the beach.

Bungalow Beach Bar

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Bungalow Beach Bar

With 20 craft beers on tap, Taco Tuesday Specials, and happy hour daily from 4 pm – 7 pm, this is the best place for a cold craft beer in An Bang Beach! It’s a local watering hole for ex-pats that live in the area so expect to make a few new friends here!

Where to Lounge in An Bang Beach

Shore Club An Bang Beach

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Shore Club

If you choose to stay at a hotel that doesn’t have a pool, or even if it does and you just want a change of scenery, the Shore Club An Bang Beach is a great way to spend an afternoon! You don’t have to actually pay to use the pool. As long as you purchase a few drinks, you can use the pool and their comfortable cabanas for as long as you’d like!

Of course, food and drinks are a bit pricier here than in other establishments around An Bang Beach. But getting to lounge on a cabana and take a dip in the pool that overlooks the beach is well worth the upcharge!

Kahuna’s Hoi An Beach Club

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Kahuna's Beach Club

Like the Shore Club, Kahuna’s Hoi An Beach Club also has a pool that you are welcome to use if you purchase food or drinks from their bar. You won’t find lavish cabana seating here but the prices are much more reasonable.

The Beach (duh!)

We found An Bang Beach to be far superior to the nearby beaches in Danang. If you’re coming from Hoi An, your driver will likely drop you off at the main beach entrance on Hai Ba Trung street. The beach there is crowded with lounge chairs and the sand has a rather steep drop-off.

But if you head further north, the beach gets a bit bigger and flatter, and it gets less and less crowded. Find an empty chair, order an ice-cold beer, and spend the afternoon lounging with a good book.

Things to do near An Bang Beach

Bike Through the Villages

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Bike Ride in the Countryside

Most of the hotels in the An Bang Beach area have bicycles that guests can use, free of charge. It’s just a short, fairly flat, 4-mile ride to the Hoi An Old Town. And there are plenty of small villages that you can cruise through along the way. You can turn left or right anywhere along the main road and find stunning rice paddies, water buffalo roaming about, and local people hard at work.

Tra Que is a quaint village on an island just off of Hai Ba Trung road. The village is known for its beautiful herb gardens and there are several great cooking schools on the island if you’d like to learn how to make traditional Vietnamese dishes.

The country roads between An Bang and Hoi An can be a bit confusing so ask your hotel for a map or if you have a Vietnam SIM card you can just use Google Maps to navigate. If you get lost it’s not a big deal, you’ll likely encounter other tourists out for a bike ride that can help point you in the right direction or just ask a friendly local!

Visit the Hoi An Old Town

An Bang Beach, Hoi An, Vietnam: Lanterns in the Night Market

The old town of Hoi An is quite spectacular and a must-see during your trip to Hoi An! But it is also incredibly crowded as thousands of tourists flock here every day to get a cyclo tour, take a sunset boat ride, or just take selfies in front of the old, historical yellow buildings.

There are plenty of beautiful hotels near Hoi An’s old town if you’d rather brave the crowds every time you leave. But if you’re looking for more peace and tranquility, stay closer to An Bang Beach and simply venture to the old town when you feel so inclined. The trip is less than four miles each way.

Have a wonderful time in An Bang Beach!
