The 7 Best Resorts on Koh Tao Island in Thailand
1. Sai Daeng Resort
Sai Daeng Resort is a spectacularly beautiful property that has been built on the hillside of a peninsula overlooking Sai Daeng Beach. The resort was built so that most of the bungalows have an amazing view of the sea, but offer guests plenty of privacy as well.
Bungalows have a modern design with concrete floors, sleek furniture, and neutral colors. Beds are so fluffy and comfortable that you’ll look forward to sinking back to sleep each night. Rooms also come equipped with air conditioning, a television set, a mini-refrigerator, coffee-making facilities, a seating area, and plenty of complimentary toiletries. It’s worth upgrading to a deluxe oceanview room so that you can enjoy the view from your private balcony!
You’ll enjoy the buffet breakfast right on the beach in the Sai Daeng Resort restaurant every day. Then you can decide if you want to lounge on the beautiful beach where you can borrow snorkels or even a kayak, or if you’d rather swim in the infinity pool with a swim-up bar.
Sai Daeng is a bit outside of town so you’ll want to either rent a motorbike during your stay, or take advantage of the cheap shuttle. The resort offers free transport to/from the dock when you arrive to Koh Tao and when you depart. Keep in mind that this resort is built on a hill so there are a lot of stairs!
2. Jamahkiri Resort & Spa
Jamahkiri Resort & Spa is another beautiful Koh Tao resort set on a hillside overlooking the expansive sea below. It’s one of the best resorts in Koh Tao, but you should be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. If you have any mobility issues, this isn’t the resort for you. But if you don’t mind the steep climb, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views from all over the property!
You can opt for an afternoon of relaxing on Jamahkiri’s private beach or at their pristine pool. The resort also has an onsite diving center if you are interested in enjoying what Koh Tao has to offer under the sea. During your stay, be sure to indulge in a spa treatment at the luxurious onsite spa!
Rooms at the Jamahkiri Resort are decorated in traditional Thai-style with lots of natural light and offer a private balcony with a lovely view. You’ll love the large bathroom with a beautiful soaking tub and plenty of amenities.
The resort is outside of the hustle and bustle of town but they offer a free daily shuttle.
3. Koh Tao Cabana
When deciding where to stay in Koh Tao, look no further than Koh Tao Cabana. It’s is a lovely little resort in the perfect location on Koh Tao island! The resort is located at the northern end of Sai Ree Beach, close enough to walk to town but far enough away so you can get some rest and relaxation away from the crowds.
Not only will you enjoy the location of Koh Tao Cabana, but you’ll also love that it’s one of the most unique properties on the island! Cottages have been constructed to resemble tree houses and every unique room offers beautiful scenic views. The bathrooms are semi-open-air allowing you to enjoy the surrounding nature. Bamboo furnishings add to the rustic, yet luxurious appeal.
The open-air restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful breakfast, right on the beach. The pool is spectacular and the entire property is surrounded by lush landscaped gardens. It’s definitely worth treating yourself to a massage in the onsite spa during your stay!
4. Dusit Buncha Resort Koh Tao
The Dusit Buncha Resort Koh Tao is located on the northern end of the island which is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet stay during your tropical vacation. It overlooks the islands of Koh Nangyuan with stunning views of the gulf and is undoubtedly one of the best places to stay in Koh Tao.
Rooms are very large, simple, and clean with Thai-style decor. Beds are large and incredibly comfortable. You’ll love having your own private balcony where you can enjoy the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee.
During your stay at the Dusit Buncha you can enjoy the two beautiful pools, the gym, and the delicious gourmet restaurant. There is a perfect spot to snorkel right in front of the hotel, or you can book a boat trip around the island with assistance from the helpful resort staff. You’ll want to take advantage of the boat taxi to the nearby island and the shuttle service into town.

The Tarna Align Resort is located centrally on the island, with a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and only a short walk to Sai Ree Beach. The quaint, air-conditioned bungalows offer private balconies for guests to enjoy, with views of the garden or the pool. You’ll enjoy plenty of other amenities including a minifridge, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, and even a mosquito net, just in case.
